Two reasons why Allegri could save his Juventus job

Tuttosport newspaper highlights that Massimiliano Allegri could save his Juventus job for two reasons even if the Bianconeri seem to have already made a decision on the Italian tactician.

Allegri’s Juventus contract expires in June 2025. Even if the Bianconeri are confident of qualifying for the Champions League, they have only collected 13 points in the last 13 league games, and the Livorno-born coach is under fire due to the Bianconeri’s poor playing style.

Tuttosport editor Guido Vaciago wrote on Tuesday that apparently, Allegri’s future is still uncertain, although people with strong connections in the transfer market believe the club has already decided to sack the 56-year-old.

Vaciago explained why Allegri could potentially still save his job.

“Juventus’ doubts are tied to the difficulty of making a decision at a historically difficult moment,” wrote the journalist.

“Every decision the club has made over the last few years mostly depended on finances because the priority is to balance the books.”

How Allegri could save his Juventus job

Given that Allegri won’t resign at the end of the season, sacking him and his staff would be pretty costly for Juventus, over €18m, unless the Italian coach finds a new club for 2024-25. Moreover, Juventus would need to add at least €4m to €5m to hire a replacement.

At the same time, despite his defensive playing style, Allegri has practically led Juventus to the Champions League qualification and will play in the Coppa Italia Final against Atalanta next month. In other words, he has fulfilled the club’s targets, so he may still have a chance to save his job.

The last month of action will probably be decisive for the future of the Italian tactician who hasn’t yet won a trophy in Turin since his return in 2021.
