Benfica go cold on Man Utd prospect Fernandez

Manchester United youth talent Alvaro Fernandez may be coming back to the club.

The left-back is seemingly unlikely to join Benfica permanently this summer.

Fernandez has been on loan at the Portuguese giants since January, but has only played five times.

His future is now in doubt, as Benfica are unlikely to exercise their buy option.

United rated Fernandez highly when he signed from Real Madrid in 2020, but he has not progressed as expected.
