Watch: Street Recovers Fumble in Debut vs. Vikings
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The newest member of the Atlanta Falcons is already making an impact in his first game with the team.

Earlier this week, the Falcons acquired defensive tackle Kentavius Street from the Philadelphia Eagles, parting ways with a 2024 sixth-round draft pick that comes with the condition of Street playing in at least six games.

Atlanta also landed a 2025 seventh-round pick in the exchange.

Street recovered a fumble early in the third quarter against the Minnesota Vikings. Here's a look at the play ...

The 27-year-old Street has played in all eight games for the Eagles this season before the trade, drawing one start while collecting four tackles. He took on a bigger role in recent weeks, playing at least 22 snaps in two of Philadelphia's past three games.

A fourth-round pick out of North Carolina State in 2018, Street spent the first four seasons of his professional career with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 6-2, 297-pound Street appeared in 35 games with four starts during his time out west, recording 42 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks. All of his sacks came in 2021, his last season with the team.

After his rookie contract expired, Street signed with the New Orleans Saints and had his most productive season to date, logging eight quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and three and a half sacks in 17 games.

With the Saints, Street worked under defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen, who's now the Falcons' defensive coordinator.

As such, with Atlanta's defense in angst following the loss of an on-field stalwart and off-field leader in Jarrett, the Falcons opted to go the route most traveled - bringing in someone innately familiar with Nielsen's style and ideas.

Replacing someone as valuable as Jarrett, a two-time Pro Bowler, can't be the goal for the Falcons ... but Street's proven track record of success in a complementary role under Nielsen may help soften the blow.
