Seahawks place S Jamal Adams on IR, waive OLB Frank Clark
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks placed safety Jamal Adams on injured reserve and waived outside linebacker Frank Clark on Saturday.

Adams was ruled out of Seattle's Sunday home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday due to a knee injury. He had missed the previous two games, and the Saturday move means he is done for the regular season.

On Friday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll addressed Adams' situation.

"He's doing everything he can," Carroll said. "It's just really, really frustrating that he can't quite get over the hump. We declared it already (that he won't play against Pittsburgh). He feels like this is the right thing for this week."

Adams must miss four games before he can return, so the Seahawks would have to win two playoff games for him to be eligible to be activated again this season.

Adams, 28, has played in just nine games this season and has 48 tackles.

The three-time Pro Bowl pick has 494 tackles, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and four interceptions in 80 regular-season games with the New York Jets (2017-19) and Seattle.

Clark returned to the Seahawks in late October for his second stint with the team but wasn't effective. He had six tackles and no sacks in six games.

Clark didn't practice all week and was listed as out despite Seattle not reporting an injury.

Carroll was highly defensive when asked about Clark on Friday.

"I'm not talking about that anymore," Carroll said. "That's it. I've got nothing for you. He's out right now and we'll just leave it at that if we could."

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Clark has 58.5 career sacks in 128 games (88 starts) with Seattle (2015-18, 2023), the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-22) and the Denver Broncos (2023).

Seattle also placed receiver Dee Eskridge (ribs) on injured reserve and downgraded linebacker Jordyn Brooks (ankle) from questionable to out against the Steelers.

The Seahawks filled the roster openings by signing linebacker Patrick O'Connell, safety Ty Okada and offensive lineman Jake Curham from their practice squad. Seattle also promoted cornerback Kelvin Joseph and nose Austin Faoliu from the practice squad for the Pittsburgh game.
