With Baker Mayfield finally getting the trade out of Cleveland that he so long desired, Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers is now the primary NFL signal-caller surrounded by constant trade rumors. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero had an update Monday on Garoppolo's rehabbing from his shoulder surgery as well a possible timeline for when the 30-year-old could get moved.
Team execs are just starting to come back from vacation. Most training camps open in two weeks, and the expectation within the league continues to be that Garoppolo is traded — somewhere — by the end of the month.

Last week, NFL Network's Brian Baldinger gave his take on the situation and said he believed that "Jimmy G." might have to first play in a preseason game before the Niners are able to trade him. San Francisco's first preseason game isn't until Aug. 12 against the Green Bay Packers.
Garoppolo underwent shoulder surgery in March and the team has been expected to be ushering in the Trey Lance era this fall. The 49ers selected Lance with the third-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Garoppolo suffered his injury during the team's wild-card playoff win against the Dallas Cowboys last winter. In 15 regular-season games last season, he finished with a 68.3% completion percentage, 3,810 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while picking up 51 yards on 38 rushing attempts.
