Is Chris Jones hinting at return of Chiefs' postseason hero?

All of that, of course, is a reference to Clark's nickname, the shark. Clark had his ups and downs during his time in Kansas City, but his postseason success is undeniable, racking up 32 total tackles and 10.5 sacks in 12 playoff games. His contributions were more than statistical, however, as he brought a high level of energy and leadership that set the tone for the defense throughout the Chiefs' championship runs.

There was interest by both sides in Clark returning to K.C. this past offseason, but the two mutually decided to part ways. Clark would go on to sign with the rival Denver Broncos and switch to outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme, but he would only appear in two games with Denver before being released. He then signed with the Seattle Seahawks, the team which he began his career with, but was released yet again after appearing in just six games.

After being released by two teams and not having recorded a sack in eight games played, it's fair to wonder how much Clark has left in the tank. He's certainly past his prime, but he had a solid year for K.C. in 2022. He's comfortable and experienced in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's system and would bring extra leadership and a boost of energy to the Chiefs' defense.

However, K.C. is pretty deep at the defensive end position and it would be hard to take players like George Karlaftis, Charles Omenihu, and Mike Danna off the field for Clark. If the Chiefs are to pick Clark up, they'll need to do is soon as we're just about a week and a half away from postseason action.
