Detroit Lions Agree To New Deal With Quarterback For 2024 Season
Kirthmon F. Dozier / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Detroit Lions announced they re-signed a quarterback ahead of the 2024 season. The Lions needed to add depth to their quality room after Teddy Bridgewater announced his intention to retire after the 2023 season.

The Detroit Lions needed another QB

As of Wednesday morning, the Lions only had Jared Goff and Hendon Hooker on the quarterback roster. Hooker was sidelined last season in his rookie year due to an injury. They will have a third quarterback for OTAs.

Nate Sudfeld gets a new deal

According to a statement by the Lions, the team re-signed Nate Sudfeld. Sudfeld has been with the Lions since the 2022 season. Sudfeld suffered an ACL injury in training camp last season and spent the year on injured reserve.

Sudfeld isn’t the only QB the Lions need to draw up paperwork for

The Washington Redskins drafted Sudfeld in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The 30-year-old has appeared in six games. In his eight-year NFL career, he’s gone 25/37 passing for 188 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He won Super Bowl LII as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sudfeld isn’t the only Lions quarterback from the 2023 season who needs a new contract. The Lions have had conversations with Goff this offseason about a new deal.
