'They couldn’t win March Madness!' Charles Barkley leaves Shaquille O’Neal in splits with wild claim about Chicago Bulls
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bulls played host to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night at the United Center in what was arguably a thrilling night of basketball. The Bulls eventually lost 126-111 largely to poor first-quarter performance which saw them make 8/19 field goals (42.1%) compared to the Clippers’ 15/23 (65.2%).

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard led the charge for the Clippers with 28 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and 27 points, five rebounds, and three assists respectively. As a result, the LA Clippers made it four consecutive victories in a row over the Bulls.

Charles Barkley wasn’t impressed by the performance of the Bulls, especially the way they struggled to keep the Clippers’ offense at bay. He spoke of their prospects and chances if they competed in the “March Madness.” It’s an insult most Chicago Bulls fans wouldn’t want to hear considering the fact that the tournament that involves the acclaimed “March Madness” was for college basketball teams and the Bulls are an elite NBA outfit.

However, Chicago Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan led the team with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists and Nikola Vucevic had 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists, but it wasn’t enough to rally them back into the game. The Bulls were without Coby White, who was ruled out with a mild hip strain. Next for them is another home game against the Washington Wizards.

Chicago Bulls-LA Clippers game summary

The Chicago Bulls lost to a Paul George-inspired LA Clippers and that has been their story in the last four games. They’ve struggled to find consistency and even though they won in overtime against the Indiana Pacers, they couldn’t build on the win. They currently sit 9th in the Eastern Conference standings, just above the Atlanta Hawks.

Chicago Bulls’ head coach, Billy Donovan spoke after the match and talked about PG who he worked with while at Oklahoma City Thunder.

With his length and size, he's a hard guy to contest when he gets it going. We tried to trap him. I thought he and Kawhi, even when they got off of it, we got hurt on some back sides on some 3s. Both of those guys' size, they have the ability to play over you. Billy Donovan said

The Clippers were too tough a nut to crack for the Bulls and with a lot of absentees, fans of the Sun City franchise would be hoping that this doesn’t affect their team’s chances of booking a spot in the postseason. Their next three games see them take on what appears to be easy teams on paper, the Wizards, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Houston Rockets.
