Emmanuel Clase Takes Home A Well-Deserved Honor

On Monday, the All-MLB teams were revealed.

The Cleveland Guardians had one player selected to each of the two All-MLB teams.

To nobody’s surprise, All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase was named to the first team.

The right-hander joins New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz as one of two relief pitchers to be selected to the team.

The 24-year-old appeared in 77 games for the Guardians in 2022, posting a 1.36 ERA in 72.2 innings of work.

Clase also converted 42 of his 46 save opportunities, striking out 77 batters and posting a 0.73 WHIP.

On Twitter, the Guardians congratulated their All-Star closer on taking home such an elite honor and being recognized as one of the top players in all of baseball.

Clase Named To All-MLB First Team

One of the many bright spots for the Guardians in a year in which they defied expectations was Clase.

The young right-hander was named the American League Reliever of the Month in June, August, and September of 2022.

He was also selected to the American League All-Star team for the first time in his career.

Clase was acquired by the Guardians from the Texas Rangers in the Corey Kluber deal.

So far, the deal appears to have worked out just fine for the Guardians.

For his career, Clase owns a 1.47 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP in 165.2 innings of work.

In addition to Clase’s honor, second baseman Andres Gimenez, also a first time All-Star, was named to the All-MLB second team.

The 2022 season was one to remember for the Guardians and their loyal fans.

The team will hope to build off of their recent success in 2023.
