Tom Izzo went on the Tim Staudt radio show this week and had plenty to share, including potential Mady Sissoko landing spots.

It’s been about two weeks since Mady Sissoko decided to leave Michigan State basketball and enter his name into the transfer portal.

The news didn’t come as a complete shock as there was talk that he wanted to utilize his final year of eligibility and Tom Izzo likely agreed that it would be better served at a different school. While Mady was a great Michigan State ambassador, he didn’t fit with the basketball program’s direction.

Sissoko hit the portal and that was kind of the last we’d heard about him.

Fast forward to Wednesday and Izzo appeared on Tim Staudt’s radio show. He had plenty of good nuggets for Michigan State fans including his portal strategy and the fact that AJ Hoggard would also be playing basketball elsewhere next season.

One of the tidbits that got overlooked was his revelation of Sissoko’s potential suitors.

With Mady leaving on good terms, Izzo is trying to help him land somewhere he feels most comfortable. And the Hall of Fame head coach listed several schools that had reached out to him already.

  • San Diego State
  • Cal
  • Colorado
  • Washington

Clearly the West Coast teams have taken a liking to Sissoko. I would venture a guess that San Diego State leads for him just given that Aztec fans seemingly love his game. One quick search of “Mady Sissoko” on Twitter and you’ll see a number of San Diego State fans clamoring for Brian Dutcher to lure him out of the portal.

Izzo, like the rest of us, is sad to see Sissoko go, but there’s a good chance that he’ll fit in much better with a program like San Diego State where he can grow with a much larger role.

Maybe we’ll even see aircraft carrier Sissoko return to form next season on the West Coast.
